The good news is that the external webcam market also looks like it'll stick around - the pandemic spawned a slew of new webcams (and webcam makers) and spurred innovation. And while we're slowly returning to offices in the post-pandemic era, it looks like remote working is likely to stick around (at least part-time).
But since the pandemic made remote working routine, the market for external webcams has exploded. They weren't good, but we didn't use them enough to care. The bottom line is that this webcam is relatively simple to install and does work well for its intended purpose of videoconferencing online.Pre-pandemic, webcams were mostly an afterthought - built into your laptop's bezel as a convenience, nothing more.
The downloaded software for the C370 allows one to adjust color and play with a few video effects for the fun of it. However, any video from a computer can also be influenced by restricted bandwidth on the internet connection of the speed of the computer video itself so this may not necessarily be a fair evaluation. Using the webcam with a videoconferencing program the video on the receiving end is slightly pixelated (just because it may be set on the transmitting computer on HD mode doesn't mean that the video will look like broadca st TV on the receiving end). Once the driver from Logitech is installed the webcam works well. It does require downloading the driver from Logitech's website for the camera to work (I installed it in an older Windows 7 computer) the exact site took a little digging to find online but thanks to a search on Google I was able to find and install the driver. The unit easily sits atop a computer monitor. On a desktop, it is usually recommended to plug it into a USB port in the back of the computer rather than the front.
